I want to rock and roll all night....

So my day yesterday was one of those perfect days. Everything ran smoothly. I had spent the last 3 days baking and making food for the party. I woke up and finished the last of my baking. Took the dog for a lovely walk. Had a nap from 2-3pm. Woke up. Started getting ready by loading the car. Did my hair. Applied my false eyelashes (Yippee. I love false eyelashes). Drove down to Lucky. Set up the food. Changed into my dress. Arrived back at the party in time to greet everyone. It was one of those days that was like the ticking of a clock. Non-stop and right on time. A fantastic day.

So while Janice and Brian set up merchandise at the front of Lucky Bar.

While I hung out with my friends Jodi and Claire. And I got to visit with friends I haven't seen in a while like Rawb.
And my spectacular and very tall husband (I'm even wearing heels in this photo)
And the lovely Michelle who came up from Portland with Mr.Josh and Ruby.
And my girl Sly.
While Wendy kept an eye on the food.
I made mostly sweets. Cupcakkes, fudge, cookies, banana bread, brownies.
And some finger food. Veggies and dip. Pinwheel pesto rolls, chips and 3 different dips.
And of course Wolffie's Cheese cake was a huge hit. Spent a little time with Brian and Janice.
And I got to meet some new friends.
Who have a cd!! Check it out.
And we hung out and laughed and chatted and laughed some more (I think it was the sugar from the fudge that made us laugh so much).
Then I hopped on stage and thanked everyone for attending...
And we closed out the night with a crazy wild performances by burlesque beauty Bettina who did three dances all FOR ME! One was to the song "Book of Love" while she checked out my cookbook. *laugh* The other was a song about Tomatoes... can't remember but it had something to do with not squeezing her tomatoes (tee hee) .

The finale was to We Got The Beat by my fav band The Go-Go's only she made the dance a strip show about gardening for beets. Get it? We got The Beet?!! Fantastic!! Bettina rocks my socks off.

Then I was home and in bed by 11pm. Ahhhhh. What a rock n roll life I have. Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the party. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You make me feel very special.

Party on dude...

The party last night was crazy mad fun.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support me and eat some Vegan treats!!

I'll post more photos later... but first I have to run down to the tattoo shop and fix the toilet. Oh what a glamour filled life I live.

Ruby Bird!!

Had dinner at Milestones with The Herbivores. Or are they The Hootivores? Or the Herbooters?

We all had the Veggie burger which is the best veggie burger I've had ANYWHERE! I live for the Milestones Veggie burger.

Whoops. I ate so fast, I forgot to take a photo.

Ruby was tired... babies need to sleep a lot I hear. So the Hooties went back to the hotel and now I'm in the kitchen making Snickerdoodles for the party.

dipped in chocolate

Spent the evening dipping pretzels for the party on Sat.
Herbivores arrive this afternoon. *WOOT*

Yowza

Yowza
Jason Schreurs is my new best friend. :)

The bloggers are blogging

The bloggers are blogging me.

Adam ROCKS!!

Adam came over and we had fun hanging out in my kitchen. He always gives a good interview. Yay Adam!! Having the A channel come over was good motivation to actually clean the homestead and throw out the mountain of snot-rags that were piling up on the coffee table.

My interview will be on the 5pm and 6pm news. If you're in the area... tune in.

I'm off to The Bay to find something to wear under my new party dress that will lift and seperate. :)

The A-channel

The A-Channel is coming over to my house this afternoon to interview me... what should I wear?? Or more importantly... where should I hide the sex toys?

But now I see.

I AM ALIVE!!
Whooo Haaaa. Look out. I'm actually dressed in clothes and I even went out in the car yesterday and ran an errand. I then had to come home and have a nap because it was exhausting. *laugh* Ok. Maybe I'm not 100% better... but I'm getting there.

I have a crazy week ahead of me. I have a lot of food to prepare for my party on Sat. I hope people show up... I'm always nervous it will be just me and the crickets.

Also The Herbivores are coming to visit this weekend... I can't wait to get me some Ruby.

I'm off to run errands.

I am blind

Does anyone else get head colds in their eyes? I mean... I could handle the sore body, drippy nose, slight fever if it didn't come with weepy eyes. I can't even watch tv when I'm like this. It sucks.

Despite my blindness I took the dog for a walk around the block. Poor fella. Almost a week of my being sick... he's such a good dog, sleeping by my side trying to snuggle the fever out of me.

Walking outside was a relief. Cool crisp air against my cheeks reminded me that there is a world outside my bed. It felt great to stretch my legs and get my muscles moving again. The most walking I've done is from the bed to the couch and back to the bed again.

Being sick reminds me of when I first had CFS. It was a good day if I could get dressed... going outside for a walk was a luxury. What a small sickly life I had back then. Thank goodness this cold will only last a few more days. When my CFS was full blown it felt like it would never end.

Hooray Amy's soup. The first day I made Jessica's Garlic Sicky SOup from LDV (pg 102) but now I am so sick I am barely able to brush my hair. Gerry took good care of me on his days off... we've been watching the first season of LOST o and that's been fun... even if I can't see. *laugh* Amy's soup is soooo comforting when I'm sick cause I don't have to do anything but pour it into a mug. Nuke it and then eat. My recyle box is full of cans.

I'm not sure this post is making sense. Is it? Hello? Is anyone out there?
ok. Back to the couch... my eyes can't handle all this typing.
*sniffle*

poor seagull

Took the dog for a walk this afternoon. He's been such a good boy as I've been fighting this damn cold. I keep thinking I'm getting better... but then I get worse. GO AWAY COLD!! Go away.

We went to the park by my house and Fergus started to chase a seagull. I managed to catch Fergus before he caught up to him, thank god. The poor seagull was covered in blood and his wing was very broken.

I ran to the vet (around the corner) to ask if they could help and they were useless... so I ran home and called the SPCA and they were very cool about it. Sent someone over right away to help this poor gull.

I hope he's resting comfortably.
I'm going back to bed.
Sniffle.

uh oh....

Uh oh...
Woke up at 4am and realized I was feeling sick. My body is sore. My throat is sore... I think I'm getting a cold or something. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I managed to stave off getting sick my entire book tour, why can't my body wait until after my book launch party on the 26th??

Cross your fingers I can chase this bug away.
More soon. I'm going back to bed.

Welcome to The Suck...

Didn't do much today.
That's a lie. I did a ton... but with nothing to show for it.

Don't you hate it when you work on the computer for hours and hours and then walk away and realize you have nothing to show for all your ticky ticky tapping on the keyboard?

I'm almost all caught up on my fanmail. You guys have been flooding me with kind letters and it makes me smile. Thank you.

Saw Jarhead tonight. Gerry forced me to leave the house, despite the fact that I am exhausted. He wants me to get back on schedule and he said it's the only way. *laugh* My jet-lag is killing me. I was up at 6am this morning and now I am wiped.

I quite enjoyed the movie... but then again I could watch Jake Gyllenhaal read from a menu and I'd be happy.

I'd also like to say Happy Birthday to Ryan Gossling (my back-up husband). If someone could arrange for Jake and Ryan to read a menu for me... I would be forever grateful.

Home again. Home again...

Did anyone catch me on WRIR? I totally spaced and forgot to listen.

Woke up at 8am yesterday and felt GREAT! Wow. Why do I feel so great?? Gerry reminded me I'm on East Coast time... so really I slept till 11am. No wonder I feel great. *laugh*

Yesterday was so glamorous! I did 8000 loads of laundry.
Yes yes. I'm watching Ghost Whisperer. It's my new guilty pleasure.

I also spent the day trying to explain to Fergus that I am not going away for a long long time so he can stop stressing out. I hope he understands me. :)

I was pretty bushed by the time dinner rolled around, so I ended up making a simple stir-fry for dinner.

Carrots, broccoli, herbed tofu and kale served over a bed of short grain brown rice and topped with Tamari and Spicy flax oil. Yum.

The Trip Home

Woke up hella early this morning after a fitful nights sleep. I hate knowing I have to be somewhere in the morning... I can never sleep properly. Always looking at the clock, thinking that I’ve slept in. Woke up. Packed. Went downstairs for breakfast. Yum. Oatmeal is always better when someone else makes it for you.

Hopped in a cab. The cab driver asked where I was from and when I told him Canada he said if I felt more comfortable, I could take my top off.

Huh?

He then started talking about the “shirtless” law in Canada.
Oooooooooh. I get it. I thought he was just being inappropriate. Ha ha. I gave him a huge tip and told him it was for driving the speed limit. :)

Sat in the train station for a hour (I told you I was early) and my train arrived only 15 minutes behind schedule. If that’s the only delay today... I’ll be thrilled.

I just looked a photo of Fergus and I got butterflies in my stomach. Tee Hee. I’m in love with my dog!! Woot!

Have you guys heard of Metric? They have a new album out (I haven’t picked it up yet)... but their last album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? is the perfect travel cd. Especially on the train for some reason.... it keeps me entertained and I could listen to it back to front and back again a hundred times and I’m still not sick of it. Ya for Canadian bands.

The trees are beautiful outside my train window. Red, yellow and orange whizz by in a dizzy blur. As anxious as I am to get home... I’ve been reflecting these last few hours on my trip. I haven’t done a lot of traveling by myself before. I was always afraid to travel alone for various reasons.... and this trip and promoting the book on my own has been really wonderful. I feel full of a confidence that I don’t think I’ve had before. Yay me.

The Washington DC train station is soooo beautiful.

I was dying of hunger by the time I got to the airport. I found a place that had Vegetarian Split Pea soup... yum. It was good. For some reason they didn't have one single salad on the menu that was Vegan. Vegan soup.... but not vegan salad. *laugh*

I went into a pub and ordered a salad and some fries. The fries never came and I wish the salad hadn't either. Wow. It was so bad... tasted like a plastic bag. Gross.

So I’ve been trying to do a final edit on my novel The Funhouse. Did I tell you I’ve written a novel? It’s only taken me 6 years... yeesh. Editing on the computer in airports is too hard... I need to print the pages out and hit them with a red pen. My next goal in life is to get this novel edited and hopefully published. I’m really proud of it. What? What’s it about you ask? I have a hard time explaining it to people with a sound byte... but my friend Claire describes it as the best book she’s ever read. *laugh* How’s that for a review? Lets just say the book is about Queenie (the main character), learning that choices in life have consequences. Good or bad, there is always a consequence for your actions.

I hope you can read it one day...my plan is once the Victoria party happens (details to follow) and I do laundry, clean the house, clean the tattoo shop.... I will get serious about doing this final edit and then work on getting it published.

I don’t have enough hours in the day for all the things I want to do with my life... any have any they can spare?

My last day....

Breakfast was lovely this morning.
Even though it was just oatmeal and toast like it was in Baltimore... it was mucho better. The preserves were real, the oatmeal was homemade and the silverware was silver. I felt posh. :)

Then I had a massage. Jeepers Creepers did I ever need it. My neck/head were killing me and this woman rubbed it all away. I came back to the hotel and napped until 4pm. What a day of nothingness. It was needed.

I went to Hana Zushi for dinner tonight. Holy crap...sooooo yummy. The edemame was fresh, the rolls were tasty and the service was lovely. Finally some good food in my tummy.

Then I walked over to Mese En Place for my cooking demo. This sign cracked me up! :)

Christine has a wonderful school and is a fantastic hostess!
Fountain Books did a great job of promoting both events for me!! Thank you ladies!!!

All the cute peeps at my demo were full of fun questions and we spent the night talking about Vegan baking, vegan food and all things Vegan. :)

I'm so pooped. I can NOT wait to get home and see Fergus and Gerry and have a normal life again. Living out of suitcases is not fun anymore. *laugh* As excited as I am to go home... tomorrow is going to be a long long day. First the train to Washington. Then fly to T.O. THen fly from T.O. to Victoria... cross your fingers that there are no more cancelled, delayed or late flights. I just want to get home.

Later kids.

A room with a view...

OK... So the view from my room is hilarious.
This photo makes it look like it's so bright and lovely...
But really it's so bright because the view is a WHITE WALL!! You have to look up up up to be able to see any sky.
I just about died laughing when I opened the window.

Yesterday I did an interview with ??? radio station and I think it will air this Friday, but I'm not sure. Ahhh I can't remember the name of the station. I'll post the web info here as soon as I figure it out. You'll be able to stream the interview online. Hopefully they edited all my ummmms and aaaahhhs out so I'll sound smart. :)

My book signing at Fountain Books was a lot of fun. There was food and friendly people and I had a little chit-chat with everyone. I had a blazing headache, so I hope I made sense when I was talking. I was very out of it and I didn't take a lot of photos... dang.

Went home and crashed HARD. I'm starting to fall apart. *laugh* My body knows the end is near!! :)

Yippee

I'm DONE!!!

More soon...

bad headache

I have a killer headache. Will post later. I'm off to get a massage from a spa down the street. I hope they can rub it away.

How can you @#$% up an avacado roll?

You see some interesting people at train stations...

I have to say that the Herbivore Tote makes an excellent travel bag. Perfect for lunch or stuff you buy when you're out and about... it's not to big (like a grocery bag) but not too small either. It's perfect. And it's black and pink... my fav color combo. Get yourself one today and you'll be glad that you did.

So my hotel room looks nice... but wait until I show you the view. It made me laugh out loud... You'll have to wait until tomorrow. It's too dark to take a photo.

Found a japanese place around the corner from my hotel.
Had some bland gyoza.

And some over cooked edemame.

And the most flavourless avacado rolls of my life. I think they didn't put anything in the sushi rice. It had noooo flava. WTF?

I'm going to have a hot bath with Steve Martin and call it a night.
