Man I've been busy!! WHY you wonder?
Cause we got a new apartment for my birthday!!!! Not owning. I wish... Just renting for now. It's twice the size of where we're living now. Yahoooo!!

I'm knee deep in boxes. Gotta go pack some more... man I have a lot of crap.

Don't forget The Jane Show is on tomorrow. This episode Jane's dad comes to visit her and she makes him a vegetarian dinner consisting of ginger tofu scramble and sweet potato fries.

I wish my Dad would eat tofu...

What a day...

What a bizarre long and horrible day...

I had to run a million and one errands this morning before racing to work only to find Gerry in a tizzy cause the shop was busy and needed my receptionist skills then our photocopier suddenly went kaput. I had to run across town and get a new temporary one cause the photocopy guys don't work on the weekend.

Query: Why does the photocopier always die on the weekends?

A guy fully road-raged at me for honking my horn at him (He cut in front of me and almost caused an accident while I had the right of way). He actually got out of the car and started yelling at me and tapping on the glass. Thankfully the windows were closed and I quickly locked the doors and was so scared that I actually called 911.

I will admit that by making the universal symbol for "you are crazy" with my middle finger didn't make things better... but he got out of his car because I honked. WTF?? I totally started crying when I was talking to the 911 guy... he was very sweet and told me I did the right thing by calling and giving him the dudes plate number.

The day ended nicely with a nice game of frisbee fetch with Fergus and Gerry... sigh. I can't wait for this day to be over so tomorrow can be better.

Do you ever...

Do you ever stand half naked in front of a change room mirror and take a good long look at yourself and think "what's the point?"

My mirror at home is much nicer to me then the one in the mall.

My server

My server went down last night ... so if you sent me an e-mail between 6pm and this morning and haven't heard back from me... re-send your e-mail.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The post office box was good to me again yesterday!

I got my Secret Society of Vegans red & black t-shirt today and it's f-n swanky as hell!! Thanks Rudee!!

And my parents sent me a present that they brought me back from Rome. God they know me so well... *laugh* I love me shakey snow domes and the kitchier the better. There is nuttin cheezier than a dome filled with the pope. I shrieked like a crazy person when I opened my packed. I love my parents!!This week our new couch finally arrived that we ordered in Feb. I've never owned a brand new couch before...I've always had 2nd hand furniture and I think 37 is a good age to purchase a brand new sofa... Fergus liked it right away.So did Gerry... finally a sofa almost long enough for him to lay on... the man is very very tall. Fergus has also settled in quite nicely. For lunch Gerry and I hit Re-Bar on the way to the bank. I haven't been in a while and was happy to hear that the soup special was vegan today. Can't remember what it was... but it was potato chick-pea something.Gerry had the Tempeh Reuben sandwich. I'm so pooped today... It’s my first day back at work since we got back from Toronto and my house is still a disaster from unpacking and laundry and the new sofa. Ack. I need a clone.

Last days in Toronto (part 2)

My last day in town was great. I went and had a little hair-cut from Dawn at Frock... The salon isn't quite ready yet... but when it is I'll let you know and all you curly haired girls in Toronto can run down and get a haircut. Dawn really knows how to cut curly hair!! She's amazing.

I met Sho and Mo for lunch and there was the cutest dog outside the place we ate (can't remember where we ate). I loved this muppet of a dog so much... her human was inside eating and she patiently waited outside (what a good dog). Her human came out with some bacon and the dog "high 5'd" him for it. *laugh* It was too funny... made me miss Fergus so much.We hung out the rest of the afternoon and I took some photos in their magical garden.

Teresa, Graham and Gerry showed up and before we knew it ... it was time to make dinner so we roasted some new potatoes with onions, asparagus and some spices. We threw them on the bbq with some Portobello mushrooms, summer squash and some Tofurky sausages.Mo made a great salad with beets that were shredded and marinade in something... don't know what it was... I was having too much fun to pay attention to details. :)After dinner we sat around and watched the 2nd episode of The Jane Show which was even funnier then the 1st episode. I can't wait to see what happens next week!!!

We said our sad good-byes and Gerry and I went to sleep. Got up early, packed and then went on the hunt for a good breakfast. The hotel cafe didn't have much to choose from so we walked up the street looking for any restaurant that might serve toast and oatmeal. All I wanted was a bowl of oatmeal and some toast. Just some oatmeal? Anyone?? WTF Toronto?? Nobody eat oats and toast?? Nobody had oatmeal...

We suddenly stumbled on Get Real a Veggie friendly restaurant!
Had a REALLY yummy breakfast burrito and the staff there were really nice. I wish we had found this place earlier in the week. Dang.On the way home we saw this little lady sitting in the window of a store. Just about broke my heart because she was so cute... made me miss my Fergus even more.
After a LONG flight home and a LONG drive to pick up the dog from Gerry's parents (thank you for doggie sitting)... we finally got to see our Fergus.

There was lots of jumping, licking, twirling and excitement... and Fergus also jumped up and down.Oh but the trip wasn't done yet... then we had to drive to the ferry. Take the ferry to Vancouver Island (1 hour 45 min) then ... oh ... we're not home yet... then there was the 45 minute drive home.

As much as I love living in Victoria... I sometimes wish I lived on the mainland. It would make traveling sooo much easier.

After a grumpy nights sleep, I woke up in the morning happy to be in my own bed. Le sigh. The air smelled fresh and salty and the breeze off the ocean made my skin feel chilly. I was so so so happy to be home. I love my life here... it's good to go away sometimes so you can appreciate what you have at home.

Last days in Toronto (part 1)

For those of you wondering where we stayed when we were in Toronto... We stayed at The Gladstone Hotel. It's a really wonderful hotel and I highly recommend staying there next time you're in town. The staff is friendly and there are events going on every single night... the best part is that each room is COMPLETLY different from the next. The only downside of the hotel is that they have no Interac machine... a minor complaint...so if you want to pay, bring a credit card or a heap of cash.

Our first room was the CHINOISERIE ROOM. That room was a little loud (we could FEEL the bar underneath us)...So they moved us to the other side of the hotel to the ECHAME FLORES ROOM which was cozy and quiet and where we spent most of the week. I loved how dark and cozy it was ... but I had terrible sleeps every single night...maybe it was haunted. I loved the stairwell... gotta love bright pink walls. :)We ended up having to move to a new room our last night at the hotel (we didn't mind moving cause we knew we'd see something new). We got the SKYGAZER ROOM and I think my favourite of the three. I felt like I was on a space-ship... It took my breath away when we walked in.All the objects on the wall look "other worldly" but are actually molds of every day things like dixie cups and flashlights and mini-bowling pins. We lay in bed and tried to figure out what everything was...

Every inch of The Gladstone Hotel is bursting with art...It's a really amazing place and I enjoyed our stay.

Something...

Something is going on with GoVegan.net!! Thank you to whoever it was who called the shop to let me know... unfortunately I'm kind of out of the loop here in Toronto ... so I have no clue what is going on. Can anyone tell me?? Dave? Are you reading this??
Speaking of Toronto- my new favourite subway station is the Dupont Station.
Pretty mosiacs and weird 1970's bubble lighting.

Ok. Pay attention. Write the name of this place down and next time you're in town... make it your first place to eat. Tonight I had one of my favourite Toronto food experiences at Live Organic Food Bar.I've been wanting to go here for a while and haven't had a chance until now. I am so interested in Raw Food... but find it so complicated to make myself. Man... this was such a wonderful experience. The restaurant is so pretty inside ...
But the evening had cooled off and was so nice that we opted for the patio out back.I had a cold noodle salad with tofu. Soooo nice. Gerry had the "tacos". I had a little bite and it was SO yummy. For dessert I had an apricot/apple/walnut torte. Ugh... to die for. :)Gerry had a slice of Chocolate Cake... I had a nibble but it was a little too bitter for me.A really lovely place to eat. I HIGHLY recommend this place... the service was slow... but it's worth the wait.

And for those of you who think Raw Food isn't filling or satisfying ... whooooo let me tell you ... we at at 7pm and I left feeling nicely full and satisfied. It's now almost 11pm and I'm still full. *laugh*

And don't forget to watch the 2nd episode of The Jane Show on THURSDAY JUNE 8th, at 9:30pm
