Popco

Popco arrived mysteriously in my mailbox last year (I love it when people send me presents) right in the middle of all the promotion of LDV. I took it with me on my travels... but for whatever reason I can't really read books on the plane. I always end up reading trashy magazines instead. :)

It sat on my bedside table for months and months and wasn't until I read Josh's review in Herbivore#10 that I remembered I had it... so I dusted it off and started reading. WOWZERS! What a treat. I loved this book from front to back. Scarlett's style of writing is right up my alley and the book even has a little bit of vegan propaganda threaded through out the story. Woohoo!

Run out and read this one... you'll love it.

I can't wait to read her other books.

Ruby Bird...

There is nothing more perfect then a Ruby Bird in flight...

Cutest movie...

Cutest movie ever...
I needed a nice light snack of a movie and this was it. A lovely little treat.

In other important news...I bought THE BEST BATHING SUIT EVER from a store called Paradise Cove. It's red with white polka dots and it's a little Bettie/Marilyn & Esther Williams all rolled into one.

I'd post a photo but... um... it's a bathing suit and I'm not sure I'm ready to show you that. *laugh* I spent a few hours trying on bathing suit after bathing suit this afternoon only to feel frumpy and squishy in all the wrong places but the suits at Paradise Cove make me feel like a sexy retro Goddess.

Gotta love a bathing suit that makes you feel good about your body.

spam filter

Ok
My spam filter is killing me... it's now blocking people from my address book...

So if you've written me an e-mail in the last couple of weeks, months, years and haven't heard from me... try me again. I'm going to delete this spam program and just slog through the junkmail as it comes in.

Thanks guys.

Exhausted

Yowza
So much exhausting stuff going on at work right now and none of it worth writing about. *laugh*

Had my third photography class last night...the numbers are really stressing me out. My learning disability with numbers is really messing me up ... but I'm trying not to freak out and just absorb what everything means. I'm a grown-up for god's sake. I know I'm not stupid ... it just takes me longer to learn certain things. I love being a grown-up... When I was a kid in school I felt like the dumbest kid in class, now I know better...

These are the photos I took into class for critque. Our assignment was "lines". This first one was a happy accident. I am practicing "depth of field" with my camera (I never knew I could do this with my camera) so while I was setting up my shot and fiddling with my aperture etc etc. Gerry was VERY bored and yawned and I managed to catch it. I love this photo as did my teacher.

This one I was practicing "depth of field" again and seeing what range my camera has.
I don't think it's much of a shot... but Gerry loves it for some reason.

I seriously need a vacation or something... Or a day off with NOTHING to do. Owning your own business is really exhausting. It is very rare when we have a day off and we don't do something "work" related. A cabin in the woods with no phone or internet access sounds like something I need right now. Or maybe just a massage.

mad fun...

I had some mad fun with Bettina today. Check her website soon for the rest of the photos...We had a fun day.

I go to work...

I worked yesterday.
I always think there's nothing really to blog about regarding work because it's kinda boring sitting at the front helping customers.

But then I remembered about the 6 foot 9 guy who came in yesterday with blue dreadlocks, velvet pants, blue painted dots all over his face and no shoes... who walked in and just stared and me and Gerry as we sat at the front desk.

Gerry very politely said "ummm. We kind of don't like it when people come in without shoes."

The dude slowly walked to the door... then turned around and stared at us like we had just blown his mind. I think he didn't realize he didn't have shoes on or something... it was very bizarre. We all laughed about blue haired man for hours after that.

I also met a really sweet girl who came in just to say hi to me and tell me she liked the books. I shook her hand and tried to talk to her a little... but she ran out of the shop like a cute little mouse. I think she was nervous to meet me or something. *tee hee*

Or how about the guy who came in to ask me if tattoos hurt (duh) and to tell me that tattoos are FOREVER and did I know that? (double duh)

Today Gerry let me take the day off so I could take photos of Bettina for her website. It's gonna be fun... and I'll try and post a few when I get home tonght.

I am such a nerd...

Weird.
My post went bye-bye... don't know how that happened.

ANYWAY. What I was saying is that I'm a giant nerd and purchased this fabu photo from Jane Wiedlin's site of Jane in nothing but some well placed paint. Yowza.

I loves me some Go-Go's.

It's a bird... It's a plane...

No. It's SUPER VEGAN!!
Have you checked this site out yet?? Really great...

In other news...
Remember Flavour Designs the place where I got my amazing bowls? They just sent me some of their greeting cards from their Sushi and Animal collection. They are soooooooooo cute!

Man. You people on Myspace are crazy... my friends list jumped from a few people to almost 300 and still growing. I've even connected with people from my past that I thought I'd never hear from again... it's nuts!

I finally had a good nights sleep last night (this week has been so hectic) and now I'm going to take the morning off, make some tea, get back into bed with Fergus and read my new BUST magazine that I bought last week and still haven't had the chance to read.

Later peeps.

Jordan and Colleen

Orgasm Bites

These were a big hit in my Acu Tech class today. But I can't take credit for the name. That was all Jordan's idea.

1 sleeve of unsalted saltines

1 cup (2 sticks) of vegan margarine

1 cup of sugar

1 package of vegan chocolate chips

1 cup of chopped walnuts

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with tin foil. Line that with the saltines. Melt the margarine and sugar in a pan until it boils. Pour this over the saltines. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and put the chocolate chips over the cracker/margarine/sugar mix. Spread them as they melt. Sprinke with walnuts. Refrigerate until they harden, and then cut or break into pieces. Yum.

Like sand through an hourglass...

So someone told me today (*cough* Mel *cough*) that my blog is their soap opera. *laugh* I LOVE THAT!!

It's been nutso around here this weekend and I've been scrambling to play catch-up with all my errands and chores.

I went to my 2nd photography class last night and it was fun but a little overwhelming. We talked about apertures and shutter speeds and there is a lot of numbers involved... and I'm not good with numbers. I think I have a bit of a learning disability when it comes to numbers... but I'm trying to remember that the numbers just mean something. That 100 speed film just means slower film then say 800 speed film which is fast.

Stay calm Sarah. They are just numbers... ugh...Thankfully I'm not the only one overwhelmed and our teacher says not to worry because by the end of the course it will all make sense.

These are the two photos I took for my "spring" assignment.
I got a good critique from the teacher and a few "oohs and awws" from my classmates... so that made me feel good.

My next assignment is "lines" which immediately made me think of cocaine. *laugh*

OH YEAH!
I saw the biggest rat last night as I was waiting in the parking lot for my Dad (I mean Gerry) to come pick me up after school. I thought it was a cat at first... but no it was a GIANT rat. I watched it look for food (or whatever it is rats do) for a few mintues and then kind of got freaked out that there might be more... but thankfully Gerry showed up right as I started to get scared. :)

Ok. Off to take the recycling to the recycle place.
When do the daily chores stop? When?

Gerry Kramer... The Tattoo King!

I have a quick but very exciting update and then I’ll let you get back to surfing porn or whatever it is you do when you're on the internet.

Gerry and I are coming to Toronto first week in June, so that means you Toronto kids will get a chance to be tattoo’d by the one and only Gerry Kramer!!

Contact him at gerry@gerrykramer.com for an appointment. Act fast so you can get a spot in the appointment book. He’ll be tattooing on June 3rd and June 5th-8th and don’t dilly-dally because his schedule is going to book up quickly.

So besides my blog I have also been gently harassed by some of you into starting a myspace page... dear lord I’ve gone to the dark side. *laugh* If you’re on myspace you can check me out here: http://www.myspace.com/sarah_kramer

So that’s it for now. I hope you’re enjoying the new book.
Talk to you soon.

Birdy, parents and recycled paper...

Hey there.
How was your weekend? Mine was busy... I woke up at 6:30am this morning because this dang bird was singing a happy song and wouldn't stop. It was actually quite lovely to listen to his warbel... I just wish I had been able to fall back to sleep. I'm beat!

The birds must be in heat right now because on the walk home Gerry and I watched a male pigeon try to make it with a girly pigeon... We thought he was hurt at first but he was just all fluffed up and bothered trying to chase after this chicka. She would have none of it by the way... :)

My parents were in town, so I had a great visit with them. Just hung out...walked around...ate some food. A lovely time.
And then there's been the filming... Brian is slogging away at Meat Market 3. From the looks of the make-up this movie is going to be the best one yet!!Don't worry... Fergus is fine. He always blinks when I use my flash...

I was around the shop a lot this week and did a major amount of cleaning in the office. I hate to say it but Gerry is a bit of a pack-rat... Our office is a little cubbie under the stairs and it's literally maybe 3 feet across and 6 feet long. It's TINY!! I re-cycled 3 garbage cans of paper. GERRY!! The boy just doesn't throw things out...I'm not quite done in there but at least now you can see the desk and everything is in its place.

Ahhhh. I love cleaning.

Fancy Bitch

My friend Erin from Fancy Bitch sent me a great book called Curly Girl.

As a woman who has struggled her entire life to tame her curls, it's just been in the last couple of years that I finally embraced my curls as they are and let them be as wild and crazy as they want to be.

The book is a really fun read and has a "free your hair, and the rest will follow" manifesto. I read it front to back in about 45 minutes and it was a treat to read and I learned a few things as well.

Congrats to Tiffany for winning the book!!
To everyone else... ya snooze... ya lose! :)

I wasn't going to blog today...

I wasn't going to blog today because my day was full of mundane errands. Seriously this is what I did today.

-Went to the sticker shop to order stickers.
-Took the dog to the park and played fetch... actually more like chase.
-Went to Industrial Paint and Plastic to check on something.
-Went to the OTHER Industrial Paint and Plastic to see if they had what the other store didn't have in stock.
-Went to the janitor store to pick up paper towel for the shop.
-Dropped them off at the shop and picked up a pay cheque and some money to deposit to the bank.
-Went to Lens and Shutter to buy myself a monopod.
-Went to the bank to deposit my cheque.
-Went to the other bank to deposit the cash.
-Went to the post office to mail some packages and check the P.O. Box.
-Ran BACK to the bank because I had forgotten my new monopod on the counter (It was still there).
-Went back to work and had The Joint make me a panini sandwich (Vegan pesto w/spinach, vegan cream cheese, Kalamata olives and red peppers).
-Called the sticker place to confirm our order.
-Went BACK to Industrial Paint and Plastic to pick up my order.
-Went to London Drugs to get some things.
-Came home and collapsed.

I can't believe I did all that in one day...

First class

Went to my first photography class tonight. It was fun...Some stuff we covered I already knew but I also learned a fair bit and I know I'll learn more as the weeks roll on. A nice mix of people as well... I wasn't the youngest or the oldest so that felt good. *laugh*The best part is that unlike the last time I was in school (some time in the late 80's) I wasn't afraid to ask questions or to answer something even if the answer might be wrong and I wasn't obsessing over that shi**y boy who said he liked me but ignored me when other people were around. It feels great to be a grown up.

Then I came home to this...
Gerry's practicing his Zombie faces for filming on Friday.

bowls bowls bowls

I ordered some amazing bowls from Flavour Design the other day.

The Buddha bowl is so nice to hold. Perfect for oatmeal in morning or a giant cup of tea in the afternoon. We've really been enjoying this bowl and it's sooooooo pretty. The Udon Bowl we used for dinner last night and it's just such a nice bowl to hold in your hands. I worked 8 hours today so dinner wasn't fancy but it sure was good. Gerry and I picked up some smoked tofu, onion, mini-squash, baby carrots, broccoli and kale and threw it all in the fry-pan. My new fav thing to toss into a simple stir fry is some Black Bean Garlic Sauce that I picked up in China Town. I'm off to work to paint more walls at the shop. Jeepers... painting makes you realize how out of shape you really are. :)

Yowza...

So much to talk about today.

First. My good friend Wolffie (of LDV fame) has a new website called Vegan No Sweat.com where she sells all sorts of cute Vegan T-shirts that are also 100% sweatshop free. Check her store out and her MySpace while you're at it.

Second. I took some wicked photos during filming of Meat Market 3. Probably the only Vegan Friendly Zombie movie ever made. :)

I posted my favourite shots HERE. If you don't like zombies, fake blood or gore... do not proceed any further. If you're in the Victoria BC area and want to be in the movie contact Brian.

Third... Those crazy kids at the Sarah Kramer Fan Club were interviewed for the TVA podcast. You can listen to them HERE. They were interviewed about 11 mintutes in.

SO FUN!!

Went to a very fun and sweaty basement show at Hari's last night.
I put some photos up on my band shots page. Enjoy!! :)

This is for you...

This is for the jack-ass who sent me a really rude f-n e-mail about how I don't post enough food in my blog. What's with you? Do you have a fetish about me and food?? I posted a photo of my feet, was that not enough for you??

Fine. Here. Here's a photo of what I ate for breakfast. Nothing fancy or very creative... I had to work yesterday and was in a mad hurry not to be late. All in all this meal took me about 10 minutes to make and it was delish and it filled me up until 3:30pm.

Toast w/mushed up avacado and salt and pepper. Lots of pepper.
Browned tofu seasoned with Braggs and pepper. Lots of pepper. I like pepper.

I just want to say that I am a multifaceted woman with a broad range of interests and this blog reflects that. If you don't dig it or me... then stop reading this blog. Remember the advice Thumpers Mum gave to him. "If you can't say something nice. Don't say nothin at all."

Good enough? Now leave me alone or I'll kick your ass.

I had some major fun tonight taking photos during filming of my friend Brian's zombie movie. I'll post more photos later. Time for bed.

Oh dear lord... I've gone to the dark side.

lady bird...

Found a dried up old lady-bird when I was changing a lightbulb yesterday...
I think she's pretty.

Diary of a tattoo...

Got a new tattoo from Mr.Gerry Kramer!! *woot* About freakin time... I haven‘t been tattoo‘d in ages.

I thought for those of you who‘ve never seen a tattoo in progress you might enjoy this little photo diary.

So Gerry and I talked about the image I wanted and he spent some time furiously drawing and re-drawing the picture until I liked what I saw. I liked what I saw right away... by the way. The man is a genius. Then we talked about what colors everything would be…
Then he makes a stencil of the drawing and places it on my leg. Thank goodness I had that pedicure.
While my stencil dries he sets up his gear. First he picks the needles he wants to use.And sets up his tattoo machine.
Then he starts tattooing. AHHHHH!!
We’re about halfway there...Oh dear lord. I need a water break. Getting close to finishing the outline!
Outline is done. That’s it for me today… I tapped out. *laugh*Outline took about 1.5 hours to do... color will be done in a couple of weeks. I had a rough sleep last night. *laugh* My leg was aching... Beauty is pain right??This is me in the morning... a little puffy and sore, but you get the idea. By the way, it's really difficult to take a photo of your own leg. *laugh* I'll post a better photo once we put some color into it. :)

I love Sarah Kramer

I love my sister-in law... we call her the "other" Sarah Kramer.

When is the last time you pampered yourself??

My spa day was amazing... It's so nice to just sit and relax and do nothing but have someone touch your feet for 2 hours. Gerry got me the DELUX package at the Aveda salon and they did a number on my feet. Nail cutting (yuck), scraping (double yuck) and lastly a oil massage with my feet dipped in wax and then wrapped up in booties. OH MAN!! It was great. Plus the entire time I sat and read trashy magazines so I am all caught up on my TomKat/Bradjelina gossip. So for all you foot fetishists here's the final product. Please don't make fun of my finger like toes, I know they are freakish.I think I need to pamper myself more often.

I am such a nerd...

I am such a nerd... If it wasn't enough that I bid on Jane Wiedlin's shoes on an e-bay auction and purchased her limited edition 2006 calendar . I am now the owner of a saucy autographed photo of Jane wearing nothing but paint...

I loves me some Go-Go's. :)
